The rankings for Roblox and Minecraft were nearly identical across both ecosystems. Roblox took fourth place on PlayStation and fifth on Xbox, while Minecraft claimed fourth on Xbox and fifth on PlayStation. The consistency of these figures suggests that once players embed themselves in a specific digital sandbox or social platform, they rarely migrate elsewhere, regardless of what new titles launch.
While the popularity of these gaming giants is expected, the level of stagnation at the top is remarkable. For PlayStation users, the top five list was not only composed of the same games as the previous year but remained in the exact same order. This indicates that the “live-service” titans have built a wall that new premium releases find nearly impossible to scale.
