A little late to the news, but this is due to pressure from #StopKillingGames early on while the European Citizens’ Initiative was launching in 2024 https://t.co/ucveDLyRds pic.twitter.com/Dt5sKPJaYB

Stop Killing Games founder Ross Scott called Ubisoft’s announcement a welcome development but said it didn’t alter the group’s broader goals. “Ubisoft adding offline modes for The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest is a nice bonus, but it doesn’t change our campaign or plans at all,” he said, calling the change a “consolation prize” of sorts.
In the same conversation Scott added that the update was unexpected: “They surprised me — I thought there was a chance, but I never imagined it would arrive before any ruling from consumer protection authorities.” He later reiterated in an October 2024 clip: “I 100% believe this wouldn’t have happened without the campaign; that’s the real win.”
After Ubisoft’s closure of The Crew sparked the Stop Killing Games movement, a group of dedicated fans prepared a server emulator to preserve the racer: “No one will ever be able to take this away from you now.”
