The Outer Worlds 2 is slated to arrive later this month, and early impressions indicate it will offer a substantial playtime for players who want to explore everything it has to offer.

Game director Brandon Adler adds that Paradise Island is one of the larger zones in the title, and the other locations are only slightly smaller. During development Obsidian pushed the area’s boundaries—carefully studying pacing and points of interest—so Paradise Island became especially dense and rewarding to explore.
That aligns with Singh’s point about the main narrative moving faster: Adler previously noted the game’s central path comprises “maybe 10 or 15% of the total content that’s actually there.” In other words, players can opt for a compact, satisfying core experience, or they can dive deep and uncover far more of the game’s offerings.
As The Outer Worlds 2 leans into more granular, “crunchy” RPG systems, the developers feel audiences—especially after Baldur’s Gate 3—are more receptive to deeper role-playing experiences: “It’s good to bring that stuff to the forefront again.”
