Adding a third‑person mode wasn’t straightforward — budget, time, and priorities constrained the team. As development progressed, however, it became clear the feature was achievable and important as recognition of community feedback.

“You start to think, ‘It’s too expensive to add some of these features; maybe we’ll save them for another game,’ ” Adler explains. “But about halfway through, we realized players would really want this, so we evaluated how difficult it would be to implement.”

Obsidian enlisted external studio Disruptive to adapt the game’s systems and ensure the experience translates well to third‑person. The team hopes players will be satisfied when the game launches on October 29.
