Microsoft has acknowledged a major outage affecting Azure, Microsoft 365 and Xbox. You can view the service updates on Microsoft’s Azure status page, where the latest note says the company deployed its “last known good” configuration and customers may be starting to see recovery.
If you’re unable to buy or access The Outer Worlds 2 through the Xbox PC app, the game is currently available on Steam. That won’t help players who already purchased the title on Xbox, but it is an option for new buyers.
Our review awards The Outer Worlds 2 a 4.5/5 and praises it as “a masterful space-age RPG that’s happy to play game master to my silliest choices.” That makes the launch thrilling for those who can play—and all the more frustrating for anyone blocked by the outage.
This Azure incident follows an Amazon Web Services outage a little over a week ago that disrupted numerous games and websites.
The Outer Worlds 2 doesn’t allow you to respec your character—even if your build breaks—because, as the game’s director put it, “I wouldn’t let you respec your story.”
