The Outer Worlds, Obsidian Entertainment’s acclaimed role-playing game, is getting a sequel — The Outer Worlds 2. The game was revealed during Microsoft’s E3 2021 presentation on Sunday. The Outer Worlds 2 will come to Xbox Series X and Windows PC.
There wasn’t much to show from The Outer Worlds 2, save for a very cheeky meta-commentary action game trailer that included a very scary glowing monster — not in the game — and, of course, people running. Next, the trailer showed an “epic shot of a world,” with lens flares, followed by a silhouette of a hero — because the developer hasn’t finished the design, the narrator said.
According to the tongue-in-cheek trailer, the story isn’t finished, either, nor is gameplay ready to show. “The only thing they have finished … is the title,” said the narrator. See the full trailer with meta-analysis embedded above.
“New solar system, new crew, same Outer Worlds. The Outer Worlds 2 is coming … and when that day is closer, we will show you more … but until then, enjoy this,” Obsidian said in its YouTube description.
The Outer Worlds was released in 2019, published by Private Division.
