The must-hear rap song of the day

st47ic

With artists releasing songs at a fast and furious pace, it’s difficult for the average hip-hop head to keep track of it all—no matter how tapped in they are. That’s why we created The Ones, a daily post to highlight the song you need to hear.

st47ic – “Witches and Angels”

st47ic’s “Witches and Angels” was made to soundtrack a fan made AMV (probably one with demons and lots of blood). The enigmatic artist who has dubbed their style “2k13 Hood EDM” makes chaotic music that’s probably more suited to be experienced seconds before the apocalypse than in my bedroom. On the track, their distorted vocals are masked by video game-sounding gunshots and an overpowering electronic instrumental from Xaviersobased. It sounds like the background music of one of those ’90s movies about computers where they don’t really understand the internet yet. The mayhem reminds me of the unsung Goth Money Records mixtape Goth Money Tech Palms 2005, which similarly sounds like it was made underneath the Earth’s surface.
