Bandai Namco and Supermassive Games announced the fourth installment of horror series The Dark Pictures Anthology just in time for Halloween weekend. And true crime fans, this one’s for you!
Titled The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me, the new game will follow a group of documentary filmmakers who receive invitations to tour a replica of serial killer H.H. Holmes’ so-called Murder Castle. And since this is a horror game, they soon discover that someone invited them here to play a deadly game and watch their every move. The Devil in Me is set to come out in 2022.
The previous installment of The Dark Pictures, House of Ashes, came out Oct. 22 and followed five characters trapped underground in a Mesopotamian Temple during the Iraq War. The other two games in the Dark Pictures series — 2019’s Man of Medan and 2020’s Little Hope — take place on a ghost pirate ship and in a ghost town, respectively. In each game, the player controls multiple characters in the story and each can survive or die, depending on the choices and quick reactions made by the players.
The current Dark Pictures titles are available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
