The Medium, once an Xbox exclusive, is now coming to PlayStation 5, developer Bloober Team announced Tuesday. The horror game was released in January on Microsoft’s Xbox Series X — one of very few Xbox exclusives for the next-generation console.
On Sept. 3, The Medium will be available on PlayStation 5, with a physical version on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. A special edition, The Medium: Two Worlds Special Launch Edition, will be available, too, with a steelbook, soundtrack, and artbook. All these will launch on Sept. 3.
Though The Medium was generally well-received on its original release, Polygon reviewer Suriel Vazquez found the game got “bogged down by tired tropes,” despite a promising beginning. Using third-person gameplay, The Medium often touted its “dual-reality” gameplay — in which players access two worlds simultaneously — to solve the game’s puzzles and unravel protagonist Marianne’s story.
Xbox Game Pass players can still download the game for no additional cost on that service.
Bloober Team is reportedly working on another horror game, according to CEO Piotr Babieno. In February, Babieno told GamesIndustry.biz that Bloober has been working on the new project for “more than a year.”
