The Best Couch Co‑Op Game You’ve Never Played Is Coming to Nintendo Switch

Wizard of Legend 2 arrives on Nintendo Switch on November 25, 2025

Wizard of Legend 2 will launch on Nintendo Switch on November 25, 2025, giving fans of local co-op a fresh chance to play one of this year’s most talked-about roguelikes.

Wizard of Legend 2 followed a familiar indie trajectory: an early access debut for Windows in October 2024, followed by a full release for Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X in June 2025. The initial reception was harsh—only 29% of Metacritic user reviews rate it positively. On Steam the game’s reviews sit at “Mixed,” based on nearly 2,000 responses, with many players calling out bugs and a general lack of polish at launch. Console players also criticized cooperative play—one of the title’s key selling points—for frequently failing to function. Steam reviews · Console storefront.

Since that rocky debut, developer Dead Mage has pushed a steady stream of patches aimed at addressing stability and gameplay issues. After months of updates the experience has improved noticeably; on Xbox Series X, for example, cooperative sessions now connect reliably far more often than they did at launch.

When it’s working, Wizard of Legend 2 truly shines. The game presents isometric, Hades-like combat through elemental-themed dungeons: fast-paced encounters of dashing, precise dodging, and careful cooldown management. Spell combinations—especially when coordinated with another player—open up wildly creative and powerful synergies.

Polygon has not yet tested the Switch version hands-on, but Nintendo’s certification process is famously rigorous. According to a developer news release, the Switch build will include all updates released so far this year, meaning players should receive the improvements implemented since the title’s initial launch.
