“I feel like I just beat this game,” commented Zenimax Media QA manager Erik Mabry on Bluesky in reaction to the announcement.

Other Bluesky users echoed the sentiment that the title is already available on current systems — “you can literally play this on the PS5 and PC as well” — while fans also voiced frustration that other beloved Tales entries keep getting passed over. One user joked about the fate of characters and games such as Destiny and Eternity, and another pointed out that Namco still hasn’t given Abyss the remaster or remake many fans have been asking for. One particularly pessimistic reply listed many series entries — Phantasia, Destiny 1 and 2, Eternia, Rebirth, Legendia, Abyss, Innocence, Hearts, Xillia 2 and Zestiria — lamenting their apparent neglect. (Bluesky)

My immediate reaction was simply realizing that Berseria is a 2016 release — 2016 isn’t that long ago, but it is approaching the ten-year mark. In a press release Bandai Namco says the remaster “levels up a memorable entry in the TALES series for current platforms, letting players experience an epic tale with new gameplay and quality-of-life features.” The remaster is slated to launch on February 27. These are the best JRPGs you can play today.
