Single Photo of Sora’s Voice Actor in the Studio Sends Kingdom Hearts 4 Hopes into Overdrive: “Is It Finally Time?”

I verified Osment’s Instagram Stories post and he does indeed appear to be inside a voice-recording studio. He added only that he’s “back to work,” offering no confirmation of the project, so while it could be Kingdom Hearts IV, there’s nothing definitive in the post itself.

When asked about the fourquel in October 2024, Osment said he hadn’t even known the game was announced and hoped “we hear something about it sometime soon.” After being informed of the reveal, he suggested the series might be approaching a natural endpoint. “I’m always the last to know, because I’m the last step in the process,” he explained.

If Osment is indeed recording for Kingdom Hearts IV, that would imply the game has moved further into full production. Still, he works on many projects, so it’s equally plausible these sessions are for something unrelated.

And yet, fan optimism persists:

“GUYS GUYS HALEY JOEL OSMENT JUST POSTED THAT HES IN THE RECORDING STUDIO TONIGHT THIS IS NOT A DRILL,” replied one Twitter user.

“OMG OMG ITS HAPPENING. PLACES EVERYONE PLACES. THIS IS WHAT WE TRAINED FOR,” wrote another.

“KH NEWS IS PROBABLY COMING SOON. I REPEAT KH NEWS IS PROBABLY COMING SOON,” added a third.

“YALL IS IT TIME??? IS IT FINALLY TIME????” asked another enthusiastic Kingdom Hearts fan.

The dominant fan theory holds that Osment might be recording lines for a Kingdom Hearts IV trailer destined for The Game Awards 2025. I won’t read too much into a single image, but I’m happy to let fans hope — and I’ll be here to celebrate or commiserate when December arrives.

In the meantime, here are the best games of 2025 so far.
