In 2023 Rockstar told a UK court that the large GTA 6 leak from the previous year cost the company $5 million and “thousands of hours of staff time,” prompting the studio to tighten security. Whether the recent dismissals stem primarily from those security concerns or from attempts to undermine organizing efforts remains unclear.
