He confirms the team has rehired more than 30 developers familiar with the project, with more returning soon, following the earlier “winding down” of Hypixel Studios under Riot.
“We’re returning to the original vision for Hytale,” Collins‑Laflamme said. “We are fully independent and have committed to funding Hytale personally for the next ten years.” The post also states the team “own 100% of Hytale” with “no investors or publishers.”
An early access launch date will be announced “in the coming days,” the blog says. The initial release will target Windows PCs; Linux and macOS versions are being considered but are not guaranteed, and console or other platform releases will follow later.
Early access is expected to run “at least a few years.” At launch the game will offer exploration and creative modes first, with minigames and adventure mode to arrive later. Modding support is planned from day one: players will be able to host their own servers and create custom content.
How early is “early”? The team warns players to expect bugs, rough edges, unbalanced systems, and frequent updates that may introduce regressions. The studio says it’s working from a four‑year‑old build and has chosen to return to the game’s legacy engine rather than continue with a newer “Cross‑platform Engine” that would require substantially more time to reach early access readiness.
According to the team, the Cross‑platform Engine is “significantly behind in terms of gameplay” and would likely need about two years before early access could be considered. The Legacy build is playable now, and the team plans to explore cross‑platform functionality later.
“In recent days we’ve made meaningful progress toward launching early access,” the studio writes. “As the transfer completes and we ramp up full production, development will accelerate in the coming weeks.”
“This is not a finished product,” the developers reiterate. “It’s a raw, incomplete, sometimes broken experience with enormous potential. You’ll encounter placeholder assets, unbalanced mechanics, and bugs — but also moments that capture the game’s promise.”
Put simply: Hytale is battered but resurrected, and it should be playable much sooner this time around. Be prepared to embrace some roughness along the way.
The delay for GTA doesn’t alter the team’s view: the developers behind the previously canceled Hytale plan to revive and launch it sooner rather than later.
