Remedy still has several major projects in development, including Control 2 and remakes of Max Payne 1 & 2. The company hasn’t indicated that these plans will change, so they’re presumed to continue as planned — though neither title currently has a release window, suggesting they’re some way off.
Remedy has faced challenges recently. FBC: Firebreak, a multiplayer co‑op shooter released earlier this year, received mixed reviews and currently holds a Metacritic score of 64. The company later acknowledged the game’s weak sales, issued a profit warning and revised its outlook for 2025. Remedy’s investor statement details these adjustments.
Virtala commented at the time that Remedy would record a non‑cash impairment related to capitalized development and purchased publishing and distribution rights for FBC: Firebreak. He added that while the studio would reassess future investments in the title, it would continue to develop and improve the game in line with the updated long‑term sales forecast.
Earlier, in May last year, Remedy cancelled a project codenamed Kestrel, a decision the studio said would allow it to concentrate resources on its established franchises. That cancellation and the recent financial setbacks weren’t mentioned in the CEO transition announcement, so their connection — if any — remains unclear; regardless, Remedy will be keen to deliver a commercial and critical success going forward.
