The PS5 in Japan Has Increased in Price by 60% Since Launch
The PlayStation 5 will see a price increase in Japan starting September 2nd. Both models of the console will become about $90 more expensive. Official accessories will also see a price hike. For instance, the cost of DualSense will go up by $20.
The standard PS5 will be priced around $550, while the disc-free version will cost $505.
This is not the first price increase for the PS5 in Japan. The disc-free model originally cost $275 at launch, and over four years, its price has nearly doubled.
Sony pointed out that the price hike is due to the economic situation in the region and worldwide. No similar price increase is expected in other regions for now.
