The 2020 Oscar nominations have arrived, together with the total record of nominees for Best Original Score. Competing for the award are Randy Newman (Marriage Story), Hildur Guðnadóttir (Joker), Alexandre Desplat (Little Women), John Williams (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), and Thomas Newman (1917). Michael Abels (Us) and Nicholas Britell (The King) have been among the many composers on the shortlist for Best Original Score who didn’t make the ultimate spherical of nominees.

Earlier this month, Hildur Guðnadóttir took house the 2020 Golden Globe for Best Original Score for her work on Joker. Last 12 months, Hildur scored HBO’s Chernobyl and contributed to SUNN O)))’s Life Metal and Pyroclasts.

Nicholas Britell and Alexandre Desplat have been nominated for Best Original Score at the 2019 Oscars (for If Beale Street Could Talk and Isle of Dogs, respectively). The 2019 Academy Award for Best Original Score finally went to Ludwig Göransson for his work on Black Panther.
