Not every game is the same. I think GTA is the one title that could justify that price, and I hope they do. Honestly, I think it deserves $100.”
“The scale and ambition of this production merit a higher price, but you can’t treat every release the same way. It would be disastrous if everyone tried to follow suit,” he added.
Rockstar hasn’t released an official production budget for GTA 6, though some industry estimates peg it near $2 billion — which would make it the most expensive game ever produced. If any title could plausibly command a $100 retail price, that would likely be the one.
A recent study even suggests a $100 price might reduce overall revenue for Rockstar, since too many potential buyers could be discouraged — meaning such a tag could leave money on the table.
