Noir Shooter “Mouse: P.I. For Hire” Finally Gets a Release Date

Mouse: P.I. For Hire — Release Date and Details

A release date for Mouse: P.I. For Hire was revealed during the Galaxies Gaming Showcase, a little more than a year after the game was first announced. The stylish noir shooter is scheduled to launch on March 19, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

The title is the debut project from indie studio Fumi Games and will be published by PlaySide Studios, the team behind Kill Knight and the forthcoming Game of Thrones: War for Westeros. Veteran voice actor Troy Baker has been cast as lead protagonist Jack Pepper, bringing his talents to the mystery-solving mouse at the center of the story.

Set in the grimy streets of Mouseburg, the narrative sends players into a web of corruption, kidnapping and murder as they hunt clues and confront a city’s dark underbelly. The game’s visual presentation channels a vintage, hand-crafted look paired with a jazzy soundtrack that gives the world a smoky, old-time ambience.

Mechanically, Mouse: P.I. For Hire blends cartoonish, over-the-top weaponry with tense action. In a detailed developer feature, lead producer Maciek Krzemien showcases what he calls “experimental weapons,” ranging from a practical freeze gun to a corrosive turpentine cannon and a disturbing mind-control ray described as a “lethal form of mind control.” You can watch the deep dive here: deep dive video from Maciek Krzemien.

Players will access an arsenal of more than a dozen imaginative weapons across 20 fast-paced levels, with combat augmented by unlockable movement abilities and Metroidvania-inspired traversal that opens up new paths and secrets. The full experience will be available when the game releases on March 19, 2026.
