While the Switch 2’s lineup may not match the original Switch’s early roster of blockbusters — which included Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, and Xenoblade 2 alongside Breath of the Wild and the enhanced Mario Kart 8 Deluxe — Fils-Aimé still sees positives in Nintendo’s strategy.

He said he underestimated how compelling the upgraded Switch 1 content would be, and highlighted that free offerings via the Nintendo Switch Online subscription and marquee releases like Donkey Kong Bananza have helped sustain momentum.

Those choices haven’t hindered sales — it was disclosed this month that the Switch 2 has passed 10 million sales in just four months.
