Fresh U.S. sales data indicate that Pokémon Legends: Z-A has turned into a breakout success, firmly taking the top spot in the market. The company reported strong global results last week, and the newly released American figures show the title outperforming its rivals by a wide margin.
According to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the largest physical launch in the United States since The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. That achievement is especially striking given that some consumers postponed purchases until the Switch 2 release.
Notably, U.S. statistics do not include console bundle sales — bundles that significantly boosted the game’s numbers in Europe. This means the success in the U.S. was driven entirely by standalone physical copies.
The game launched on October 16, 2025 for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 and moved more than 5.8 million units in its first week. About half of those sales were on the new console. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is Nintendo’s most successful release since Tears of the Kingdom.
Nintendo shows no signs of slowing down: three major titles are slated before year’s end — Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Kirby Air Riders, and Metroid Prime 4.
