Nina Simone’s traditional 1965 albums I Put a Spell On You and Pastel Blues are being reissued on vinyl as a part of Verve/UMe’s “audiophile-grade” reissue sequence Acoustic Sounds. The remastered Simone albums each arrive November 6 on 180g vinyl; pre-order every of them here.
Released 4 months aside, I Put a Spell On You and Pastel Blues seize two completely different sides of Simone’s artistry. The latter, recorded with a jazz quintet, consists of her traditional renditions of “Sinnerman” and “Strange Fruit.”
