Nier creator Yoko Taro says his genuine autographs contain “small unknown features” — nearly half of resold signatures are fake

According to Yoko, nearly half of the autographs being resold are counterfeit, so he urges fans: please don’t buy them.

He doesn’t reveal exactly what those subtle identifying marks are — presumably deliberate quirks or deliberate imperfections that only he knows. There are even reports suggesting Yoko’s signatures can be idiosyncratic depending on the situation; one reddit post claims he was noticeably nervous while signing in a particular setting. That post is one such example.

Bottom line: don’t part with your money unless you can verify an autograph’s authenticity, or you obtain it directly from Yoko Taro in person — then you’ll know it’s genuine.

The latest Nier: Automata collaboration even puts 2B on your desktop as DLC for a widely used Steam application.
