New Nintendo Direct coming Sept. 23

Nintendo will stream a new Nintendo Direct presentation on Thursday, Sept. 23, where the company plans to reveal new details on upcoming Nintendo Switch games. Nintendo announced the new Nintendo Direct stream on Twitter.

The next Nintendo Direct will air at 6 p.m. EDT/3 p.m. PDT. The presentation will run “roughly 40 minutes” and focus on Nintendo Switch software coming this winter. Viewers will be able to watch it on Nintendo’s YouTube and Twitch channels.

Nintendo’s current lineup includes Metroid Dread (arriving soon on Oct. 8), Splatoon 3, Metroid Prime 4, and a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. But Nintendo also has highly anticipated updates planned for already released games; fans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons are hungry for new content promised by Nintendo, while Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players have one — just one — more add-on fighter coming their way as part of the Nintendo Switch game’s Fighters Pass Vol. 2.

New offerings for Nintendo Switch Online are also reportedly on the way. In addition to NES and Super NES games, Nintendo is reportedly bringing Game Boy and Game Boy Color games (and possibly even Nintendo 64 games) to its online subscription service.

Nintendo also has some new hardware on the way. A new version of the Nintendo Switch, featuring an OLED screen, is scheduled to arrive Oct. 8. In November, a new Game & Watch handheld celebrating The Legend of Zelda’s 35th anniversary arrives.
