As you can see, the clip above is edited and rearranged to make the likenesses more obvious, but the parallels are difficult to dismiss.
That said, when I watched the full sequence on Netflix — which I recommend viewing in full — I noticed clear influences from a range of iconic sources. In a single viewing I picked up homages to Mortal Kombat’s gruesome finishers, the kinetic fight choreography of Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee, and the sweeping, large-scale set pieces familiar from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s an ambitious, spectacular sequence.
Borrowing elements from other films isn’t unusual in Bollywood; productions often draw heavily from Hollywood, sometimes down to shot-for-shot references. What sets this instance apart is the apparent nod to video games like God of War and Mortal Kombat, plus likely other subtle tributes I missed on my first pass. Neat stuff.
