Multiple Injured in Stampede After Reported False Gun Scare at Roots Picnic 2019

On Saturday, June 1, a stampede broke out on the Roots Picnic on the Mann Center at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, as Brooklyn Vegan notes (by way of Philadelphia’s CBS and ABC associates). According to CBS 3 Philadelphia, a false gun scare led to a rush that left 5 folks injured, with police confirming that “four of the five people injured were minors and one of them suffered a broken leg.” A spokesperson for Live Nation, which places on the Roots Picnic, advised ABC 6 {that a} medical problem prompted the stampede. It reportedly occurred throughout 21 Savage’s set.

According to ABC 6, the live performance was reportedly again on inside an hour, and no arrests had been made. Pitchfork has reached out to competition representatives for remark.

Among the performers on the Roots Picnic had been H.E.R., Blueface, Raphael Saadiq, and the Roots, who had been celebrating the 20th anniversary of their basic album Things Fall Apart.
