The Mortuary Assistant developer Darkstone Digital has released a found-footage–style trailer that offers the first look at its upcoming Paranormal Activity entry, Paranormal Activity: Threshold. The footage appears to follow a couple who have moved into what the male character calls “the only house we could afford.”
Predictably, events spiral into terror soon after.
The trailer intercuts gameplay clips of the player-character exploring the home while filming with a handheld video camera — in an Outlast-like perspective — as furniture shifts inexplicably and faint, unnerving sounds emanate from the shadows. Later moments show the protagonist examining a spirit-board–style object with an EMF reader nearby, before being dragged into darkness by an unseen force.
Darkstone Digital says the game “aims to deliver a uniquely chilling experience, faithful to the franchise’s legacy of found footage fear.”
The studio rose to prominence with 2022’s unsettling cadaver-care sim, The Mortuary Assistant, which earned praise for its “Operation, but cursed” spin on horror. Darkstone first revealed the Paranormal Activity project in early 2024, although the title was not disclosed at that announcement.
No launch date has been announced yet, but you can add the game to your Steam wishlist.
