Microsoft delays Xbox Game Pass price hike for existing subscribers in some countries — not the US or UK (for now)

Microsoft also says subscribers in the United States and United Kingdom did not receive this notice because the temporary pause doesn’t apply in those markets — meaning Game Pass Ultimate will continue to be billed at $30 per month in those countries. If you canceled a U.S. or U.K. subscription to avoid the higher fee, you won’t be eligible for a reduced rate through this temporary measure.

“Current subscribers in certain countries will continue renewing at their existing price for now, in line with local requirements,” Microsoft added, noting it will give advance notice before any adjustments take effect in those locations.

While the timing may seem notable, Microsoft frames the pause as a compliance step that grants affected subscribers a temporary grace period; it doesn’t eliminate the planned price increases.

The email also assures customers they will receive at least 60 days’ notice before any change that affects their account, and that they can cancel or modify their subscription at any time.

GameStop says it will ignore the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price increase and continue selling $20 subscriptions in-store and online.
