Authorities in Singapore have arrested a 26-year-old Australian man identified as Johnson Wen after he
rushed the red carpet and made physical contact with Ariana Grande during the Asia premiere of Wicked:
For Good. The incident occurred at Universal Studios Singapore on November 13, when the actor-singer and
fellow cast members were greeting attendees.

Wen has been charged with creating a public nuisance, a charge that can carry a fine equivalent to
more than $1,500 and, according to media reports, could include a jail term of up to three months.
News outlets including the BBC and CBS provided early reports of the arrest and charges. BBC,
CBS News.

Video captured at the premiere shows Wen vaulting a barrier and running toward Grande, then placing an
arm around her neck while bouncing up and down. Cynthia Erivo, who stars alongside Grande, quickly intervened
and pulled Wen away, while other members of the cast — including Michelle Yeoh — moved to comfort Grande.

Short clips of the encounter circulated widely online, and fans expressed outrage after footage revealed
Wen clinging to Grande until security reached the scene. Reports indicate Wen later posted about the episode
on Instagram before his arrest.

Media coverage also notes a pattern of similar behavior attributed to Wen: past incidents allegedly involved
rushing stages during performances by artists such as The Weeknd and the Chainsmokers, and he was reportedly
arrested earlier this year for an incident involving Katy Perry in which he is said to have made unwanted contact.

At the time of reporting, Grande has not issued a public statement about the red carpet incident. She did
share photos from the premiere on Instagram and captioned them, “thank you, Singapore we love you.”
