BabyxSosa’s “Running” captures that end of relationship paranoia. The other person has moved on, yet they can’t escape your thoughts. “You been on my mind, you been on my mind/I been runnin’ from it/Who you layin’ up with late at night?/See you stopped callin’ callin’,” she lilts as her voice trembles. The drumless beat from Vegyn of Endless and Blonde fame contributes to the unease, and the tightness of it reminds me of a few of the cuts from Mica Levi’s Zola score. It’s as uncomfortable as being forced to let go of someone who you thought would be around forever.
