T-Minus Zero Entertainment, which NetEase closed in August, has resurfaced as an independent developer. The studio’s revival was made possible by a group of investors and seasoned industry professionals who funded a new beginning.
A statement on the studio’s website announces the team’s intention to “recast itself” as an independent production company. The developers are currently concentrating on finding partners and securing financing to turn their ideas into reality.
Chief Executive Zak commented:
“We believe the future of the independent games sector belongs to studios that combine creativity with discipline, vision with accountability, and autonomy with pragmatic partnerships.”
T-Minus Zero’s rebirth comes against the backdrop of a wave of closures that swept through game companies in 2025. Notably, NetEase recently announced the shutdown of Fantastic Pixel Castle and the layoff of its entire staff.
Details about what the renewed T-Minus Zero will produce are still scarce, but the team says it is already developing new concepts for future games.
