Developer vedinad posted that Megabonk climbed to the sixth spot on Steam’s most-played list, ahead of Marvel Rivals, Call of Duty, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Borderlands 4. The tweet read “6th most played game on Steam today i will be eating spaghetti with EXTRA cheese tonight” and was signed off playfully as “John Megabonk.” Another user later noted the title briefly reached the No. 5 slot, overtaking Silksong for a short period.
I tried Megabonk for the first time last Friday after seeing reports about its million-plus sales, and it promptly devoured my weekend. I had planned to finish Silent Hill, but the game’s chaotic charm was impossible to resist. As more players discover the sunglasses-wearing chimp, its momentum looks likely to continue.
The studio’s debut — crafted by a small team of Korean college students — sold 500,000 copies on Steam in its first month, and the developers are now pushing out rapid patches to keep up with eager roguelike fans.
