Frogger, the 1981 arcade game where you safely guide a frog across busy highways and treacherous rivers, is now a game show on Peacock. That’s right — instead of playing as a little frog, contestants will leap across logs themselves!
The first look at the show reveals some wild and whimsical set pieces, as well as contestants clinging for their lives on said set pieces. All fun and games for an American Ninja Warrior and Wipeout-esque experience.
This isn’t the first time Frogger has made a television appearance, though admittedly the character popping up in CBS’ short-lived Saturday Supercade cartoon was a more traditional adaptation. It’s also not the first time Frogger has made a memorable, er, splash on NBC. Witness this classic scene from Seinfeld’s ninth season in 1998:
As a video game (the original was developed by Konami, and published by Sega — how about that?) the most recent iteration in Frogger’s 40-year run is an Apple Arcade version called Frogger in Toy Town.
Frogger the reality game show hits Peacock on Sept. 9, with new episodes every Thursday.
