Helldivers 2 is currently in a rough spot; Arrowhead has even reshuffled its internal roadmap to prioritize stability and restoration. On Discord and other community channels, some players have pointed the finger at the GameGuard anti-cheat as a possible cause.
Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani has pushed back on that theory. In response on Discord he wrote that he has repeatedly denied GameGuard causing performance problems and that the team “see[s] no evidence” it impacts performance. He called the anti-cheat a bit of a “boogeyman,” while agreeing it merits one more thorough investigation before it can be definitively ruled out. For now, don’t expect GameGuard to be removed.
