Some fans were furious at Ghost of Yotei’s omission from the Game of the Year nominees — yet even the lead actress disagrees with their outrage.
When The Game Awards 2025 nominees were revealed, the internet buzzed with debate. Among the six contenders for Game of the Year were Clair Obscur, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Donkey Kong Bananza, Hollow Knight: Silksong and other high-profile releases, but Ghost of Yotei was nowhere to be seen.
That absence disappointed a portion of the community, who argue the sequel expanded on the original’s ambitions and cemented Sucker Punch’s success. Still, the performer behind the protagonist thinks a different title deserves the crown.
Erika Ishi, who portrays Atsu, told GamesRadar on the red carpet at the Golden Joystick Awards that her personal pick is Blue Prince.
“Blue Prince is Game of the Year — no question. Forgive the other titles, but even now, three hundred days on, I keep discovering new secrets.”
Ishi added that she regards Clair Obscur as “an excellent game,” but for her the frontrunner remains Blue Prince.
