Gamevice requests ITC block all US imports of Switch as a result of patent infringement

It’s Wednesday, which suggests Nintendo has been accused of patent infringement.

Yes, companies get sued all the time by others or yelled at over patents. But Nintendo appears to get smacked with such accusations left and proper.

Gamevice, the creator of detachable controllers for iPhone and Android devices, has requested the US International Trade Commission (ITC) block all imports of Nintendo Switch into the nation.

According to Reuters (thanks, Nintendo Life), Gamevice filed a criticism alleging Switch importation “infringed on its patents.”

The ITC stated in an announcement it can launch an investigation relating to “certain portable gaming console systems with attachable handheld controllers and components thereof.” As of press time, a call has not been introduced relating to “the merits of the case.”

Nintendo stated it has “nothing to announce on this topic.”

Back in August 2017, Gamevice filed a patent infringement suit against Nintendo over Switch’s removable Joy-Con controllers. The firm ultimately dropped the case.

We’ll you up to date on any additional developments.
