At the end of September, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company teamed up with GameStop for a limited in-store giveaway: Shiny versions of the legendary mascots from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet — Shiny Koraidon and Shiny Miraidon — are being distributed at physical GameStop locations in the United States and at EB Games in Australia and New Zealand, with participating stores in countries such as Japan and France also joining the promotion. The giveaway runs through October 15, 2025.
What was intended as a simple retail drop quickly encountered supply issues. Fans reported that many stores exhausted their allotment of codes in the days leading up to the start date. Midway through the promotion GameStop announced a fresh batch of codes, but demand has continued to outpace supply, so many local shops are likely already depleted.

On October 4, 2025, GameStop posted on X that the retailer had restocked codes. The company explained that the first wave of complimentary Shiny Koraidon and Shiny Miraidon receipt cards disappeared quickly due to overwhelming demand. In coordination with The Pokémon Company, GameStop arranged for additional codes, but the supply is limited — roughly 50 receipt codes were allocated per store.
Each store originally received about 50 codes, which many locations exhausted almost immediately. Although the promotion restricts redemptions to one code per person, several eBay listings have appeared offering multiple codes for sale. One of the top replies to the restock announcement on X included screenshots of such listings, showing at least one seller with multiple codes available.
Some trainers managed to secure codes from nearby stores over the weekend, while others found their local GameStop out of stock again. A Reddit user commented they were “waiting on a third chance” after being told their store had run out; other community members later shared spare codes for Shiny Koraidon and Shiny Miraidon to help them out. Why these Shiny box legendaries weren’t made available through Tera Raid battles or distributed via Mystery Gift remains unexplained. For now, the only reliable route to obtain a Shiny Koraidon or Shiny Miraidon is to visit participating retail locations and hope they still have receipt codes in stock.
