Marvel Rivals‘ upcoming season launches on Nov. 14 and will introduce X-Men’s Gambit as a playable character, with Rogue slated to arrive later in the season, as NetEase previously hinted. Gambit debuts as a Strategist at season start, while his famously complicated romantic partner will join mid-season.

NetEase describes Gambit as a fighter who fuses kinetic-energy manipulation with his trademark playing cards, nimble movement, and close-quarters prowess to deliver a distinctive combat style. Armed with Chronovium-enhanced cards, he can shift kinetic energy to heal teammates, purge negative effects, or inflict damage—pushing enemies back and applying anti-heal. In melee, Gambit channels energy into his staff for devastating strikes. His ultimate scatters kinetic-charged cards among nearby allies, temporarily boosting their jumps and adding explosive force to their attacks.

Season 5 carries the subtitle “Love is a Battlefield,” and the new trailer leans into romantic pairings across the roster. The footage teases several fan-favorite couplings — such as Loki and Mantis (“Lotus”), Storm and Black Panther, and an unexpected moment involving Scarlet Witch and Venom — though only a handful of new Team-Up combinations have been officially confirmed.

  • Gambit & Magneto — Explosive Entanglement
  • Cloak & Dagger and Hawkeye — Sword of Duality
  • Blade & Moon Knight — Blade of Khonshu

Additional Team-Up mechanics and balance adjustments are covered in a new developer video released this week.

The season also adds a social hub: a Times Square map modeled after New York’s iconic plaza. Designed for up to 100 players in a non-combat setting, the space is intended for hanging out, sharing highlights, and lighthearted antics — including the option to emote freely in character skins (Venom’s dessert-themed outfit receives a cheeky mention in the trailer).

On Nov. 27, Marvel Rivals will introduce a new 18v18 Conquest mode called Annihilation, promising large-scale, chaotic skirmishes. That same day marks an anniversary event where players can claim 2,500 Units plus a free Legendary Jeff the Land Shark costume as part of the celebration.

Rogue’s exact arrival date and role remain unannounced. The season trailer also features Cyclops in several shots, which many viewers interpret as a possible hint that he could arrive in season 6.
