This Week in Dance Music
News, festival updates, and the best new dance tracks.
Salt-N-Pepa’s DJ Spinderella made history last weekend in Los Angeles as the first female DJ inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In other highlights, Fred again.. paused his intensive 10-shows/10-songs/10-weeks run in support of the USB002 project to take a well-deserved break, and Alison Wonderland welcomed her second son, describing the newborn as “very chill.”
Milk & Honey Music + Sports expanded its footprint by acquiring UK-based Bigfoot Music Management, adding clients such as Adam Beyer and Joris Voorn to its roster and signaling that underground electronic music will remain a core focus for the company.
Festival season news: Lightning in a Bottle revealed an impressive Memorial Day weekend lineup, Ultra Music Festival Miami unveiled its phase-two bill for the 2026 edition, and the industry’s Winter Music Conference is confirmed to return in 2026.
Damian Lazarus announced Bali as the third international stop for his Day Zero series in 2026. Back home in Australia, Ninajirachi took home two awards at the Triple J Awards, and Robyn returned with her first solo material in seven years, a new track titled “Dopamine.”
We also spoke with Envision Festival co-founder Josh Wendel about major operational improvements planned for 2026 — upgrades to water, composting and sanitation systems, a bolstered medical team, and a stronger emphasis on sourcing local staff and supplies to raise safety and sustainability standards.
“We’re placing an intense focus on safety and medical preparedness, and examining every possible way to improve operations,” said Josh Wendel. “It may not be glamorous for a lineup poster, but health and sanitation are our headliners this year.”
Below: our picks for the best new dance tracks this week.
Best New Dance Tracks
Hayla & Nelly Furtado — “Faded”
Hayla and Nelly Furtado pair up on “Faded,” a dark, dance-pop collaboration that blends sleek electronic production with emotive vocal interplay. The song layers progressive-leaning textures under sultry verses, giving each artist room to showcase dynamic tonal range and dramatic phrasing.
Hayla describes the track as an exploration of obsessive infatuation: how a self-inflicted “spell” of desire can linger long after the other person is gone. Furtado adds that she’s long admired Hayla’s songwriting and voice, and jumped at the chance to collaborate because the song captures Hayla’s distinctive aura.

Skrillex, Dylan Brady & Caroline Polachek — “hit me where it hurts x”
Originally glimpsed as “Zeet Noise” on Skrillex’s April release, this reworked version stretches the original’s frenetic, churned-up beat into a fuller nearly four-minute cut. Dylan Brady contributes his taut production sensibility while Caroline Polachek’s presence elevates the song with ethereal melodic lines, creating an unexpectedly expansive collaboration.
Out on OWSLA/Atlantic. Listen: YouTube.
Kungs & Channel Tres — “Nasty”
French producer Kungs and LA-born Channel Tres deliver a glossy, Italo-influenced floor-filler in “Nasty.” The track leans on a propulsive bassline and a memorable riff designed to move a dancefloor, while Tres’ laid-back vocal cadence adds swagger and context.
Kungs says he aimed for a sexy, club-ready groove that pushes beyond radio expectations; Tres explains that “nasty” is West Coast slang for something impressively funky or dominant — a high compliment in his circles.
From Kungs’ forthcoming Out Loud LP (due in March). Listen: YouTube (video).
LP Giobbi & House Gospel Choir — “Figure It Out”
LP Giobbi reunites with London’s House Gospel Choir for “Figure It Out,” a jubilant, piano-driven house anthem that pairs big, soulful vocals with buoyant production. The choir’s full-bodied harmonies inject the track with gospel fervor while Giobbi’s piano-house sensibility anchors the song’s peak-time energy.
Released on Giobbi’s Yes Yes Yes label. Listen: YouTube.
Eris Drew — DJ-Kicks (mix)
Chicago-born Eris Drew contributes a rich, 20-track entry to the storied DJ-Kicks series. The mix navigates house and breaks with emotional depth and funk-driven peaks, featuring exclusive cuts and selections from artists including Moby, Calisto, DJ Garth, Onionz and others. Drew describes the compilation as the “funky, emotional, ecstatic house-and-breaks backbone” of her sound.

Faithless — “Insomnia” (Disclosure Edit)
Faithless’ seminal track “Insomnia,” originally released on November 27, 1995, receives a respectful new edit from Disclosure. The brothers brought a live arrangement of the song to Glastonbury 2024 and later worked with Sister Bliss to release the version more broadly — a gesture of admiration for one of electronic music’s enduring anthems.

Griz & Tape B feat. Creg — “Light You Up”
Griz and Tape B team up for a bass-heavy, psychedelic stomper titled “Light You Up,” featuring vocals from rising artist Creg. The track debuted at Tape B’s Red Rocks headlining set and at Griz’s Seven Stars festival, combining heavy low-end with celebratory, crowd-igniting energy.
