Grivel briefly rejoined Ubisoft Toronto in summer 2024 to work on an unannounced title, left again in December of that year to join Worlds Untold, and has now circled back to lead the Splinter Cell remake — returning to the role where this chapter began.

It’s been twelve years since Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the franchise’s most recent mainline entry. Although Blacklist earned solid reviews, its sales fell short of Ubisoft’s expectations, and Sam Fisher was largely sidelined for the following years.

Sam’s revival is picking up steam: Splinter Cell: Deathwatch premiered on Netflix in November, and Ubisoft is progressing with the remake. Official updates have been scarce, but Grivel’s return signals the project remains a priority and is moving forward — albeit somewhat out of the limelight.
