We all have our defences not less than slightly bit raised when assembly somebody new. In Heaven Will Be Mine, a brand new visible novel launched late final week, these defences are just a bit bit extra literal, and much bigger. I assume it’s simpler to flirt confidently whenever you’ve bought vitality shields and an enormous humanoid steel hull able to shrugging off meteorites. Set in a weird anime-inspired alternate 1980s, it’s the story of three ace mecha pilots on a mission, though there’s each probability they’ll drop all of it to get their smooch on.
While Heaven Will Be Mine’s key promoting level is it’s large mecha flirt-fighting, it sounds attention-grabbing as an offbeat piece of sci-fi on the whole. Everything has gone a bit incorrect within the far-flung way forward for 1981, and the world of sci-fi journey out within the stars hasn’t materialised. Most are packing up and heading again to Earth to dwell regular, gravity-bound lives, however some cling to impossible-seeming desires. The story follows three girls over the course of an eight-day battle, and the participant’s selections decide whether or not the story finally ends up extra Kiss Kiss or Bang Bang.
The complete factor seems and sounds very trendy. It’s humorous simply how far some snazzy diegetic interface design can draw me into an expertise like this, particularly if backed up with an appropriately moody soundtrack and a few becoming bleeps and bloops. While we’ve not given it the protection it deserved, author Aevee Bee and artist Mia Schwartz’s earlier visible novel launch – We Know The Devil – was nice, deeply atmospheric and closely allegorical stuff. Give it a glance for those who haven’t – it was motive sufficient to place Heaven Will Be Mine on my radar.
Heaven Will Be Mine is out now on Itch and Steam for £10.24/€11.24/$13.49. I’m unsure if anybody’s reviewing this one but, however Alice (Prime) went slightly bit starry-eyed when she noticed this had launched.
