Splitgate 2 originally launched in June 2025 and faced heavy criticism for expensive microtransactions, rough gameplay balance, and an ill-advised promotional hat shown at Summer Game Fest. In response, the studio pulled the game back into beta in July and began a sustained overhaul.

Since then, 1047 Games has been incrementally adjusting weapon handling and other core systems; those revisions appear to be working — recent Steam reviews have shifted to mostly positive territory.

The full relaunch had been penciled in for sometime in 2026, so the new December plan puts 1047 ahead of that earlier timetable. Splitgate is a buoyant sci-fi FPS that channels Halo-style combat but adds a signature twist: portable portals that let players teleport around arenas, multiplying tactical options and chaos alike.

“The past six months have been a journey, and every piece of feedback, every playtest participation, every community discussion has shaped where we are now,” reads a post on the official site about the final playtest. “Splitgate is in the best place it’s ever been, and that’s because you’ve been here with us.”
