Rumors are swirling that 007: First Light could receive an original theme song in the vein of the film franchise, and many fans suspect Lana Del Rey may be behind it. The singer previously penned a track called “24” intended for Spectre, though Sam Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall” was ultimately chosen for that installment.
The speculation gained momentum after a new entry appeared in ASCAP’s database under Elizabeth Grant, Lana Del Rey’s legal name. The registered title, “First Light,” prompted a wave of discussion on Reddit and other fan spaces about whether Del Rey has finally landed a Bond theme of her own.
The idea of Del Rey composing a Bond theme fits on several levels. Creatively, it would close a loop she began when submitting material for Spectre. Beyond that, Del Rey’s longstanding fascination with gaming culture lends a curious resonance: in a Mark Savage interview she revealed that her breakout song “Video Games” was inspired in part by watching her then-partner play World of Warcraft. Of course, the ASCAP listing might be unrelated to the Bond project. Del Rey’s forthcoming album, Stove, is currently expected in early 2026, and “First Light” could easily belong to that record instead. Given that the album has experienced several working titles and delays, it wouldn’t be surprising if she’s developing tracks for different outlets while the LP is finalized.
Fans likely won’t have to wait long to learn more: 007: First Light is scheduled for release on March 27, 2026, and IO Interactive has been rolling out increasingly detailed previews of the game. Additional information about the soundtrack—or confirmation of Del Rey’s involvement—may arrive as those promotional windows open. If the connection never materializes, listeners still have Stove to anticipate.
