PANIC STATIONS! 🐦 A brand new game studio run by pigeons! – YouTube

All four leads are veterans of Mediatonic, the studio Epic acquired in 2021 that later underwent large layoffs. Founded in 2005 as a Flash studio, Mediatonic went on to create quirky projects from the pigeon dating sim Hatoful Boyfriend to the Phoenix Wright–meets‑Picross visual novel, before finding mainstream success with the platform‑game‑show Fall Guys. It’s a team with a clear taste for the absurd.
One of Mediatonic’s original co‑founders, Paul Croft, has launched Skeleton Crew, described as “a group of independent game companies supported by a central team.” Panic Stations will operate under that umbrella alongside Brightrock Games (Kaiju Clean Up), the indie publisher Mythwright, and Payload Studios, the creators of TerraTech.
Perhaps the most notable detail in the studio’s press release is the production plan: Panic Stations intends to ship “a few” physics‑based co‑op games “every year.” Given how titles like Peak have produced huge returns after only months of development, it’s not surprising to see a studio double down on the sandbox‑style, spectator‑friendly formula—even if some players dismiss it as “friendslop.”
“We want to make games as fun to watch as they are to play,” Hindle says in the trailer—speaking from beneath an orange traffic cone in pigeon guise—”and we’re getting ready to serve up some tasty friendslop.”
“Let’s not call it that,” Taylor mutters in reply.
These are the best co‑op games of all time.
