
“We’re on track to do that in three months,” Choung said. “So the bull case in three months… We were confident people would enjoy it, but I didn’t fully expect how big it would become.”
Unlike many games that see their peak player counts on the first weekend, Dispatch’s episodic rollout produced growing traction with each episode. According to SteamDB, the game recorded three progressively larger spikes, culminating in last week’s high of 220,060 concurrent players.
Choung said the episodic approach was debated internally. “Should we release everything at once? Conventional wisdom suggested we shouldn’t. But the episodic format has absolutely proven its worth,” he added.
Aaron Paul has long wanted to appear in a game, and Dispatch—an irreverent, The-Boys-style superhero comedy—finally felt like the perfect fit. “Nothing else really felt right,” he said of taking the role.
