Enthusiast Transforms Steam Deck into a Compact Stationary Console

A Reddit user known as Crastinator_Pro designed and 3D-printed a case for the Steam Deck without a display and control elements, leaving only the hardware with a cooling system. He literally named his project “brick” — Steam Brick.

Conveniently, no soldering is required for this modification. You simply need to trim the metal guides and place the board with its contents into the 3D-printed case. CAD drawings for printing are provided freely on his Reddit page.

The purpose of this for regular gamers is unclear, but it could, for example, give a second life to a partially broken Steam Deck. To operate, you’ll need to connect a gamepad and a monitor—creating a stationary console based on Steam OS, which is even more compact than the Xbox Series S: dimensions are 193.5 × 126.5 × 21 mm with a weight of 474 g (the standard Steam Deck is 298 x 117 x 49 mm at 669 g, and the Xbox Series S is 275 x 151 x 63 mm at 1.9 kg).
