When nothing else works, set it on fire — that’s my tongue-in-cheek philosophy for both tax season and Embark’s stopgap for Arc Raiders’ locked-door exploit while the developers prepare a permanent patch.
The studio issued a hotfix this morning — appropriately dramatic — that punishes anyone who abuses the glitch by igniting them in-game. Figuratively speaking, of course; no real-world arson involved.
Locked rooms now turn you into a fireball if you glitch inside

It’s a pathetic sight — and genuinely hilarious. The change functions as a deterrent and doubles as comic relief while players watch how Embark handles issues they can’t immediately patch out. The Reddit clip had me laughing, and the community reaction has been broadly positive.
One Redditor summed it up: “THIS is the way you deal with issues you can’t fast-fix because you need to draw a pentagram and chant for 40 hours to make the game engine behave properly.” Another added: “That’s what I’m talking about, baby!”
Given that some players wanted exploiters banned, subjecting them to a slow, painful in-game death seems like an adequate deterrent. The root cause will likely be resolved soon, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the devs keep this deterrent or fold it into the final fix — either way, it’s providing plenty of entertainment.
Arc Raiders’ gear tiers have become more chaotic after one gunsmith discovered that low-rarity mods often offer the best value — suddenly I don’t feel guilty about using my uncommon blueprints.
