Speaking to The Game Business‘ Christopher Dring, Soderlund said the studio has additional projects in the pipeline. When asked whether those would all be online games — a risky market as recent cancellations have shown — he replied, “That I think is just ingrained in our DNA,” while clarifying that it “doesn’t mean that they’re online games the same way as The Finals or Arc Raiders.”

Soderlund added that one of the concepts is “edgier” than The Finals or Arc Raiders, whereas the other is “a little bit more conventional.” He declined to say whether these projects share worlds with the studio’s existing titles or how far along they are, so plans may still evolve. Given The Finals’ success and the attention around Arc Raiders, it’s understandable that Embark would continue to pursue online-focused work.

Arc Raiders developers have reassured players not to worry about gear-score matchmaking — they say it doesn’t actually exist and that the emphasis remains on preserving the split between solo players and squads.
