There are plenty of video games where you collect creatures, but there’s not much that looks quite like DokeV, a new open-world MMO from developer Pearl Abyss. Instead, the game looks like a mashup of a bunch of other game elements, like Monster Hunter, Pokémon, and even Splatoon.
A four-minute trailer at Gamescom 2021 showcased the DokeV’s crowded city world and a few other settings. Throughout it, cartoon children zoom around on skateboards, rollerblades, and gliders; fight in chaotic battles with absolutely bizarre, colorful weapons; and ride creatures that look like llamas. Plus, it’s backed by a very catchy sound.
In a YouTube description, Pearl Abyss gave a few more details on DokeV:
DokeV is an upcoming creature-collecting open world action-adventure from Pearl Abyss filled with intriguing stories and set in a unique, vibrant world. Meet Dokebi, whimsical creatures that live side-by-side with humans and encourage people’s dreams from which they gain strength. The gorgeous and colorful world of DokeV is brimming with activities, stories, and experiences, so get ready to befriend tons of Dokebi, embark on an adventure, and rock the world! Who knows, they may be dancing around you, even now!
Pearl Abyss mentioned throughout that DokeV is a work in progress and content is “subject to change,” but there’s certainly a lot more to discover about these creatures called Dokebi. I’d certainly like to get my hands on one of those cool skateboards.
