Everwind – Official Gameplay Trailer – YouTube

As someone who’s enjoyed Minecraft intermittently but never fully committed, I found several aspects of Everwind especially appealing. Floating islands are a perennial weakness of mine, and the airship upgrade path — improving size, speed, and maximum altitude — gives clear, meaningful goals that change how you explore. Flying the airship is satisfying: I eased onto a shoreline to investigate a lone watchtower, then improvised a dirt bridge to reach the island.
I can easily picture myself hunting for rare components to upgrade my engine, only to be waylaid by caves and dungeons — the parts of sandbox games I always savor. The demo’s introductory rush of items and recipes can feel overwhelming; the tutorial is both brief and information-dense. Still, core interactions—opening chests, crafting tools, eating, chopping wood—felt intuitive. I leaned on my Minecraft instincts and they served me well. I completely lost track of time during my session, which is a very encouraging sign.
This concept has a very high ceiling but also a deep potential pitfall. At this stage, though, Everwind shows strong promise. I can imagine it evolving into a genuinely great game, and the demo’s reception on Steam — nearly 1,000 very positive reviews already — is an excellent early indicator.
I endured physical pain to keep playing this Shadow of the Colossus meets Mirror’s Edge action-platformer in Steam Next Fest, which is about the highest praise I can give.
